Ownership

The editorial content of VeryCosy.com, meaning the written reviews, the comparisons, the page structure, the headings and the original graphics and layout, is the work of VeryCosy.com and is protected by copyright in the United States and, through international convention, in most other countries. Copyright exists from the moment a page is written; no registration or notice is needed for it to apply.

Some material on the site belongs to other people and is used to identify the products under discussion. Product photographs, packaging images, brand names, logos and trademarks remain the property of their respective manufacturers, retailers and rights holders. Nothing here claims ownership of those, and their appearance on this site does not imply that the owner endorses VeryCosy.com or that we are affiliated with them beyond the affiliate advertising relationship described on our affiliate disclosure page.

What you may do

  • Read, print and save pages for your own personal, non commercial reference.
  • Share a link to any page anywhere you like. Links are welcome and need no permission.
  • Quote a short extract, of the length normal for commentary or review, provided you name VeryCosy.com as the source and include a working link to the page you took it from.

Prohibited uses

Without written permission, do not do any of the following.

  • Republish a review, a substantial part of one, or a set of them on another site, in an app, in print, in a newsletter or on a social platform.
  • Rewrite, spin, translate or paraphrase our content and publish the result as your own.
  • Scrape, crawl or copy the site in bulk, whether by script or by hand, including for ingestion into a commercial dataset or model training corpus.
  • Use our text, layout or graphics in advertising, in a sales page, or in any other commercial context.
  • Remove, hide or alter attribution, authorship or copyright notices.
  • Frame or mirror pages so that they appear to be part of another site.
  • Present altered content as ours, which includes editing a review so that it says something we did not say.

To ask for permission beyond the personal use above, write through the form on our contact page and say what you want to use and where. Reuse arrangements are usually possible; taking without asking is not.

Reporting infringement of your work

If you own copyright in material you believe appears on VeryCosy.com without authorization, we will act on a properly made notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. section 512. Send it through the form on our contact page with the words DMCA Notice at the start of your message, and give us a way to reply to you.

For a notice to be effective it has to include all six of the following.

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or of a person authorized to act on the owner behalf. Typing your full name in a message you send counts as an electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed. If several works on this site are covered by one notice, a representative list of them.
  3. Identification of the material you say is infringing, described precisely enough for us to find it. In practice that means the full address of the page and, where the page holds more than one item, which image or which passage you mean.
  4. Your contact details: name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the owner behalf.

On receiving a compliant notice we will remove or disable access to the material promptly and take reasonable steps to notify whoever supplied it. Be aware that under section 512(f) a person who knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing can be liable for damages, including costs and legal fees. If the material was in fact licensed to us, or your complaint is really about attribution or about a link, say so plainly and we will usually sort it out faster without any of this.

Counter notice

If your material was removed from this site and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter notice through the same contact form, marked Counter Notice. It has to include all four of the following.

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the material that was removed and the location where it appeared before removal.
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, postal address and telephone number, together with a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the district where you live, or, if you are outside the United States, of any district in which we may be found, and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice or from their agent.

We will forward a valid counter notice to the original complainant. If they do not tell us within ten business days that they have filed an action seeking a court order, the material may be restored, usually between ten and fourteen business days after we forward it.

Repeat infringers

Anyone who repeatedly supplies infringing material for publication on this site will not be used again, and access to any interactive feature may be withdrawn.

If you think we have made a mistake

Not every problem needs a legal notice. If an image on a review is yours, or a passage looks too close to something you published, tell us through the contact page and it will be looked at on its facts. Removal or correction does not require anyone to be at fault and is usually the quickest end to it.
