Air instead of beans, and what that changes
The practical differences are all in the same direction. Air does not compress permanently, so the chair does not flatten over a year the way polystyrene beads do. It does not escape when a seam splits, which is the failure that ruins carpets. And at 5.28 pounds deflated it folds into a drawer, which no bean bag has ever done.
The trade is in how it feels. Beans conform around a body and stay where they are pushed; air redistributes and pushes back.
