The screen goes up where the bracket happened to land, which is usually too high, and then it stays there for a decade while everybody in the room quietly tips their head back. The Perlegear PGMF21 is one of the few mounts in this price bracket that treats that as a design problem, offering three separate height configurations for the television brackets rather than one fixed position.
Amazon lists it for flat or curved screens between 32 and 65 inches weighing up to 99 pounds, with VESA patterns from 100 by 100 millimetres up to 400 by 400. It fits 12 or 16 inch wood stud spacings as well as concrete and brick. Movement is quoted as tool free tilt of 5 degrees up and 15 degrees down, plus and minus 45 degrees of swivel, and 17.3 inches of extension, with plus and minus 4 degrees of post installation levelling. The arms arrive pre assembled and the mount weighs 10.91 pounds.
Three height settings, and why that is worth more than the swivel
The correct height for a television is roughly eye level from where you sit, which for most sofas puts the centre of the screen somewhere around 40 to 45 inches from the floor. Brackets are usually fixed to studs at a convenient working height, which is higher, and the result is a screen you look up at for the life of the room.
Three height configurations shift the television brackets relative to the wall plate, so the same fixing position produces three different screen heights. In practice that means you can put the plate where the stud allows and still get the screen where the room needs it. Combined with 15 degrees of downward tilt, this is the mount in this group best equipped to deal with a wall that dictates its own fixing height. It is a quiet feature and it does more for daily comfort than any amount of swivel.
The stud spacing specification, and the 24 inch problem
Perlegear states the mount fits 12 or 16 inch wood studs, and explicitly names a separate extension bracket, the PGUE1, for 24 inch stud spacings. That is a more honest way of handling the issue than quietly claiming universal fit, and it is worth reading before buying rather than after the plate is against the wall.
Twelve inch centres are unusual in modern construction and common in some older and manufactured buildings, so the inclusion is not filler. Sixteen inch is the standard. If your studs are at 24 inches, this bracket alone will not span them and you will need the extension, so measure before ordering. As always, locate both studs with a detector, confirm with a pilot hole, and use the fixings appropriate to what is actually behind the plaster. On masonry, use anchors rated for the substrate and follow the manufacturer instructions rather than a general rule.
Seventeen inches of reach, and what it is for
The arm extends 17.3 inches, which is the middle of this category: further than the twelve to fifteen inches of a compact articulating mount, well short of the thirty inch reach of a corner specialist. That middle ground is the useful one for most rooms. It is enough to bring a screen clear of a shallow alcove, past the edge of a chimney breast, or forward far enough to turn towards a dining table.
Reach and swivel work together on any articulating mount, and it is the extension that makes the swivel figure achievable. A screen pressed against the wall cannot turn far before its trailing corner meets plaster; the same screen brought forward has room to rotate. If your requirement is only to angle the picture slightly towards one end of a sofa, a shorter arm will do. If the screen has to serve a second seating area, the reach is what buys that, and 17.3 inches is the practical minimum for a 65 inch panel to turn usefully.
What the testing claims mean and do not mean
Perlegear describes cold rolled steel construction with a wide wall plate, and states the design has been through four times weight capacity testing and 60,000 cycle testing. Those are useful claims because they are specific: a four times safety factor on load, and a fatigue test on the moving joints rather than only a static pull.
What they are not is an independent certification. No laboratory or standards body is named, so this is the manufacturer describing its own test regime. That is still worth more than a bare number, because a manufacturer that publishes a cycle count has at least considered how an articulating joint wears, which is the failure mode that actually matters on a mount somebody moves every evening. Read it as a statement of intent rather than as third party verification, and treat the 99 pound figure with the usual margin.
Pre assembled arms and post installation levelling
Two practical details make this easier to fit than most. The arms arrive assembled, so the job on the day is fixing a plate and hanging brackets rather than building a mechanism on the floor first. And there is plus and minus 4 degrees of levelling available after installation, which means a screen that hangs slightly off can be corrected by turning an adjuster rather than by taking the plate off the wall and re drilling.
That second feature is more valuable than it sounds in an older house, where walls lean and studs are rarely perfectly plumb. It is also the difference between a job that finishes in an hour and one that finishes in three. A drilling template is included, which is the other thing that decides whether the holes end up where the drawing says.
What the listing does not establish
The specification block gives brand, weight, package dimensions, colour and identifiers, and no structural detail at all. The cold rolled steel is not specified by gauge or grade, the wall plate dimensions are not given, and the three height configurations are described without stating what the actual height offsets are, which is the number you would want in order to plan.
The 99 pound rating is quoted without saying whether it holds at the full 17.3 inch extension or only retracted. No independent testing standard is named. There is no fixing specification, no minimum stud width, no guidance for metal studs, and no statement of the retracted depth, which for a full motion mount is what determines how it looks when nobody is watching television.
The swivel figure of 45 degrees each way carries the usual size dependency: a 65 inch panel will meet the wall well before a 32 inch one reaches the quoted angle, and the listing does not acknowledge it. Nor is there a warranty term, or a stated maximum for the combined weight of screen plus any soundbar bracket attached to it.
Who it suits and who should look elsewhere
It suits a mid size television in a room where the fixing height and the viewing height do not agree, which is most rooms. The three height settings, the 15 degrees of tilt and the post installation levelling together make it the most adjustable bracket in this group for the money, and the explicit stud spacing guidance removes a common source of failure.
Look elsewhere if the screen is larger than 65 inches, where the MOUNTUP MU0028 for 42 to 82 inch sets is the right band, or if the studs are at 24 inch centres without the extension bracket.
